Tadej Pogačar secured the Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider pushed the pace on Alpe d'Huez and crossed the line far in front. Only Richard Carapaz gave chase closely. Pogačar's group faced unwell team riders earlier in the stage but he stayed healthy. His lead expanded on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz picked up Stage 18 just minutes behind.
