Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and sailors serving aboard the USS Tripoli came back to the U.S. on Wednesday. They finished tours assigned to the 5th and 7th Fleets. Meanwhile, thousands of Marines and sailors stationed in Okinawa headed back to Japan after missions related to the Iran situation. The Tripoli berthed at its home port in Okinawa, closing out its deployment. The U.S. Marines and the Royal Australian Air Force finished joint drills at Dyess under the Trident Fury program this week. In Vancouver, the police marine unit recovered a newborn seal pup that was abandoned.
